Polyvinyl chloride is produced with polymerization by using vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), organic peroxides, azo- initiators or persulfates. Three different production processes are used:
  • Suspension polymerization (with organic peroxides or azo-initiators)
  • Bulk polymerization (with organic peroxide)
  • Emulsion polymerization

For suspension and bulk polymerization, only organic peroxides are used such as Peptide peroxides, Peroxide carbonates, Peresters.   For emulsion polymerization, water soluble organic peroxides are used such as Hydroperoxides and Ketone peroxides.
